According to the European Environment Agency, the textile industry is one of the most impactful, largely due to the consumption of so-called “fast fashion”, that which is produced and disposed of quickly. In response to this reality, the Peruvian Textiles Camones S.A. BIC launched its Sustainability Strategy in 2021 to promote production that reduces its environmental footprint and generates sustainable products, thus Be Green was born.

“Be Green is a business commitment that aims to design and produce fabrics, threads and garments with an environmental focus. This implies the use of sustainable fibers, safe chemicals, selected under the highest standards and sustainability criteria from the selection of the raw material. “This process begins with our suppliers and extends to our clients,” highlighted Carlos Camones, CEO of Textiles Camones S.A. BIC.

Global and strategic alliances

Another important aspect that has allowed the launch of the first sustainable fabrics in Peru is the alliance that Textiles Camones managed to establish with global firms recognized in the textile sector and that share the objective of sustainability. For example, with the Austrian Lenzing, a textile benchmark in fibers in the world, especially in Europe, among other important firms in the textile sector.

In addition to this, Textiles Camones certified the Be Green production process, which is why it has the OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 seal, the most accepted ecological label in the world that guarantees the use of sustainable textile products, in addition The use of RCS and GRS recycled polyester has been certified, as well as the use of organic cotton with the GOTS certificate.

Technological innovation
“We have taken our first but solid steps towards the circular economy, this involved the renewal of our machine park and we invested in the latest in German dyeing technology, which allows 40% less water consumption, this project has supervision online remote control for the control and traceability of our textile processes, as steps towards the transformation of Industry 4.0."

It is also important to note that recycled polyester yarn is manufactured by recycling plastic bottles. This is an effort to provide a sustainable, durable and high-quality product that meets the demands of new consumers,” Camones highlighted.

National and international market

Be Green is launched in the month of October and is intended to meet the demand of the national consumer, those men and women who are committed to more sustainable and sensitive fashion with the environmental crisis and, above all, aims at the global market, to countries such as the United States, Brazil, and Italy, where Textiles Camones S.A. BIC has high recognition for the quality of its fabrics and threads, thus seeking to enter new markets in both Europe and Asia.
